Below I have posted several learning aids that I have created for my teaching. Please feel free to contact me for pdf's of any of these aids.
This diagram of Sonata form was created using Mind Meister. Sonata form is the most important large scale instrumental form of the Classical era in my opinion. Look at Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven for examples. Brahms was also a master of this form but he utilized Romanic era vocabulary along with the Classical form, look at his Piano Quintet Op 34.
This Voice Leading Graph of Brahms was created using Finale. This type of reductive analysis is very informative and is a useful way to conceptualize music in different levels. This can be done with many different types of music. At some point I will do a few of these with pop music.
The last three examples were made in Finale and are harmonic analysis of jazz lead sheets.
